Season 5
06/17/10: Alex's return from hiatus has been pushed back to 118 or 119.
06/10/10: Look for more hijinks to start up very soon surrounding Benji, Duke, Blake and Jeff. Also look for Sierra and her new beau to arrive in town following devastating news. A bolder, more refined Sierra emerges this time around and shocks everyone. The Summer Solomon connection will also be further explored, pitting many of the younger set against one another in a battle to see who can outmanipulate who.
06/10/10: Alex returns from her temporary hiatus in Episode 117.
05/18/10: Episode 114 marks another appearance by Jack Childers (now with an actor to represent the character). Jack has made several small appearances over the years, most notably in a flashback sequence of Episode 95. In addition, the character can be found on several cast rosters on the Starlog webpage. Jack doesn't have much history of his own right now, but look for him to fit into larger pieces of the history of our characters as things progress. He ran in the same circles as Nathan and Victor back in the day if that gives any indication.
04/23/10: In the coming weeks, look for some site enhancements like a long-overdue update to the On Location page, and a Starlog entry for House of Palms. More additions to come: a Starfile for Cassidy Solomon complete with an epic bio of her personal and professional life, the secret surrounding her young daugher Summer, and just how she got the gig on The Young at Heart fifty years ago.
04/23/10: Jordan may be getting a full house when his eccentric mother, Lola, leaves the Actors Retirement Village.
03/26/10: Casting News: Stephanie will stick around for at least one more episode. Casting is underway for a twenty-something year old actor to represent a rich Ivy-League type. He'll be a short term guest-starring role. Jeff Branigan will stick around for a few more episodes than planned. No final date yet on Heather's one-episode return. Sierra returns in the next couple of episodes and will stick around for an undetermined amount of time. Newbie Bryan Carlson (Jackie's business confidant) will be recurring for the remainder of the season, splitting time between New York and L.A.
03/16/10: Episode 109 marks the first of several trips to Mexico for characters involved in Sunset Studios. Look for the series to split its time equally between L.A. and Acapulco by early May.
03/16/10: The cast cleanup continues. Say goodbye to Detective Stephanie Callahan. She'll depart after episode 110. Although she was a popular character, we're trying to focus in on the core cast. With Stephanie's storyline involving Kyle mostly wrapped up, she'll tie up loose ends with Jordan before departing.
03/07/10: Sierra makes several guest appearances in April. Still no current plans to bring her back permanently.
03/07/10: Heather, last seen in episode 99, will make a guest appearance in an uncoming episode when she comes to a crossroads in her treatment. The episode has many repercussions for future storylines involving cast members like Brett, Suzanne and Jordan. After appearing as a regular cast member in seasons 1 through 4, Heather was written out at the end of last season.
02/26/10: Look for a big chunk of the cast to go "on location" this spring and summer.
02/26/10: Mackenzie and Vince (Alex's agent) won't have the substantial roles originally planned for. Look for them to make occassional guest appearances, but they won't have much story time. Of the supporting cast introduced in season 5, Kyle and Stephanie will be the only to remain indefinetely. Duke, who first appeared in 104, will finish out his story within a few weeks.
09/04/09: The Storm Lake story-arc comes to its end this week. But don't expect lack of storyline for the younger crowd in the coming weeks. A friend of Benji's from boarding school shows up in the next episode, and trouble soon follows. The arc will have more of a Blackthornes feel to it, immersing several younger cast members into the same high-stakes drama that their parents are known for.
09/04/09: Quinn makes her last appearance in episode 103.
08/25/09: Two storylines get the fast-track to their climaxes. First off, T.T. departs the cast with Episode 102, but not before leaving behind one important morsel of information. Secondly, Storm Lake is condensed into two episodes, culminating with the climax in 103. The original storyline, planned for a summer-miniseries, didn't transfer well to the regular series. As it appears in 102 & 103, it's been massively altered, only progressing at all in order to explain the build-up that's been going since last season. After it's conclusion, Miranda & Eddie become more integrated into current storylines on the canvas.
08/18/09: Set sail this summer on a luxury cruise when Renee and T.T. go away together for romance in the high seas. But don't expect their vacation to go smoothly. As with all well-planned travel itenerary's, fate itervenes.
08/18/09: Renee and T.T. aren't the only cast members destined for water destinations. Look for Miranda and Eddie to make a trip to Storm Lake where they uncover strange occurances at a local theatre camp. Meanwhile, Miranda suffers from major bouts of insecurity stemming from Eddie's past with Quinn Rainer.
08/10/09: As usual when a new season begins, new faces will populate the canvas. Season five will boast several guest stars destined to shake things up for our beloved first family of Hollywood. Included are Mackenzie Stone, an outspoken television producer; Quinn Rainer, a sweet, misunderstood daughter of a mega-millionaire; Duke Summerfield, a troublemaking friend of Benji's from boarding school; and Vince Campbell, a talent agent who has his hands full when he begins representing movie legend Alex Reynolds. Check out the Cast section for all the dirty info!
06/21/09: Production has stopped on Storm Lake. The two completed episodes may wind up on The Insider in the coming weeks, but sadly, the mini-series didn't gel as I thought it would. Instead, I will merge the planned storylines for the summer into the beginning of season five.
06/21/09: Every season before I even begin writing, I decide how many episodes I'll write. It helps to keep me from meandering along aimlessly and helps me have a sense of what I'm building to. Season five will have 32 episodes, a full 7 more than the typical season.
